With over 140 years of experience in manufacturing, Alfa Laval is a leading global provider of sustainable products and solutions in heat transfer, separation, and fluid handling, serving customers in the Energy, Food & Water, and Marine industries.
Alfa Laval Group Digital is committed to protecting and improving manufacturing and business operations to meet increasing demands for productivity, compliance, scalability, and standardization. In response to these demands and an evolving technological landscape, new needs for digital ways of working have emerged.
Alfa Laval is adopting a lean digital factory approach, designed to facilitate standardized ways of working with seamless data flows, and MES is a vital component in this. The central MES initiative at Alfa Laval started in 2019, and the approach is to develop a global MES template. This template ensures a uniform solution across manufacturing sites, regardless of whether they produce 100 units per year or 1,000 units per hour.
In this session, we will share our ongoing journey from paper-based production to digitally managed shopfloor operations. We started off in one factory in Sweden, and since then we have taken several steps to transition from a one-site project to a multinational, multisite program. We will share our experiences, highlighting the benefits and challenges encountered along the way.
