Samivel Krishnamoorthy joined ams OSRAM in 2009 and is the architect behind the transformation of the company’s majority operations sites in the Opto Semiconductor division. He has championed the introduction and adoption of SEMI standards as de-facto factory integration standard and phased out legacy IT & data collection systems within the organization globally. He helped transition the manufacturing operations of ams OSRAM from a manual 4” to semi-automated 6” and eventually to a fully automated 8” production. In his career spanning over two decades, he has led and completed the Factory Integration setup of 6 assembly & test plants, 3 wafer fabs & 1 global module house. Most recently, he had completed the start-up of ams OSRAM’s state-of-the-art 200mm Wafer Fabrication plant in Kulim, Malaysia. It is the first fully automated Wafer Fab in the company’s portfolio and in Malaysia and was built in record breaking time of 1 year with 100% Factory Integration Readiness within 1.5 year.
He had received his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Universiti Teknology Malaysia (UTM). He began his career in SilTerra Malaysia in 2004. Prior to joining ams OSRAM, he had helped set up Factory Integration systems for Qimonda’s Global Module House in Senai and a pilot Sensor production line for Infineon Melaka as a consultant.
Despite being a digital transformer, he is still betwixt and between on how the world at large is embracing digitalization and secretly hopes for more sense and sensibility over how we incorporate machine intelligence into our daily lives while not forsaking the importance of social and emotional intelligence.
